Wenatchee Is Cleaning Up
Typically, Wenatchee is a pretty nice, peaceful, town to drive around in. Today was not typical. After the monster windstorm from yesterday, the roar of chain saws polluted the air today.
I took my husband and my camera out to preview some of the damage… yet trying to stay out of the way of clean-up crews.
There was plenty of roofing material littering the entire region and, sadly, lots of old timber evergreen trees that had been sucked up by their roots and thrown to the ground or (in some cases), into homes and onto cars. As far as I know, there have been no reported injuries from the storm.

Home buried under, and surrounded by, downed treesThe home featured above, which I sold several years ago, now has a large uprooted Douglas Fir tree leaning against it. Unfortunately, this was not an uncommon sight today.
Below are more samples of the debris about town. The house on the left is covered with, and surrounded by fallen trees. The root ball is a typical example of uprooted trees littering the town. The van nearly got buried, but probably just scratched. If you look closely at the next picture, you will see a smooshed car under the collapsed carport at the Washington West condo complex. There is a car under the collapsed carport.
There will be no shortage of firewood this winter and the roofers will, quite literally, have work for several months.
